Some helpful hints :

Taxis from the airport, or main bus station (terminal terrestre), should not cost more than $18,000 COP to El Cafecito.  We recommend using only  the official taxis.

Legal taxis should have orange plates and use a taximeter (taximetro).  After 8 pm and on weekends an extra fee is added to the fair.

Arriving to Bogotá airport during the day with little baggage, you can use the bus system. Ask at the tourist office for which bus to take to the “Parque Nacional” we are two block south of the park. Or mail us for a full detail route.

Bogotá is at an altitude of 2620 meters. Making for cold nights as low as 5 degrees. So warm clothing is a necessity.

To accustom yourself to altitude, it is recommended to drink a lot of water and rest during the first 48 hours.

For prices and/or selection, it is almost always better to book spanish schools and tours such Rafting, Jungle, Climbing etc. here in Bogotá.

Bogotá has some of the best shopping in the world and you can find every thing you will need from personal items to high fashion.

Visa and Master card are widely accepted for cash and purchases. Some places charge up to 10% surcharge when using your card.

Although most café and restaurants add an extra 10% to the bill for services, your waiter will always be very appreciative of an additional tip.

There is an airport tax when leaving Colombia payable only in cash at about $30USD.
