In Cuenca, the capital of the province of Azuay, El Cafecito is centrally located, three blocks from the "Parque Calderón" (The main plaza). At short distances to points of interest such as the old and new Cathedral, the Tomembamba river, and its mulititude of other cultural sites.

Tucked away in the Andes, the third largest city in Ecuador, 442km from Quito and only 250 from Guayaquil, surrounded by four rivers. Some helpful hints-
Taxis from the airport, or main bus station (terminal terrestre), should not cost more than $1.50 to El Cafecito.

In Cuenca the taxis do not have taximeter, you must bargain with them.

Among the buses Cuenca - Guayaquil we recommend "San Luis" or "Super Semeria" taking the route of the national park Cajas. This way should take about 4 hours, while the other via "El Cańar" is six hours. There are buses on a hourly basics and cost about $US 7.

Among the buses Quito - Cuenca the best option is Sucre Express costing about US$ 12, taking 8 hours. Of which you can enjoy the ride through "The Avenue of the Volcanoes", passing by Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Antisana, El Altar and the Ilinizas.

Arriving to the Cuenca airport during the day with little baggage, you can use the bus system. From the outside of the airport to the historical centre take the bus marked "Trigales". Once in the centre check your map or ask someone the way to El Cafecito. It is at Luis Cordero and Honorato Vazquez. You could also walk about 15 minuets via the Avenida de Espańa to the street Huayna Capac from there to Honorato Vazquez. El Cafecito is on the right hand side just before the end of the street.

For better prices and/or selection of language schools or tours such the national parks, climbing, artisan villages ask the staff of El Cafecito.

Visa and Master card are widely accepted for cash advances and purchases. Some places charge up to 10% surcharge when using your card.

Although most cafés and restaurants add a extra 10% to the bill for services, your waiter will always be very appreciative of an additional tip.

There is a $25 airport tax to leave from Ecuador, payable only in cash.
